SPIRITUALITY

Sadhguru: Spirituality does not mean any particular practice. It is a certain way of being. To get there, there are many things to do. This is like a garden in your house. If the soil, sunlight or stem of a plant is in a certain way, it won’t yield flowers, you have to do something. You have to take care of those things. So if you cultivate your body, mind, emotions and energies to a certain level of maturity, something else blossoms within you – that is what is spirituality. When your rationale is immature, it doubts everything. When your rationale matures, it sees everything in a completely different light.
Whenever any human being experiences something bigger than himself, the traditional way of looking at that is, “this is God…” The whole idea of God is just that – anything bigger than you. It could be a human being or an experience or some aspect of nature. But is this spiritual? No, this is just life. When I say “just life“, I am not trying to dismiss it as a small thing. It is the greatest thing. Only when life becomes an overwhelming, powerful, blissful experience for you, you want to know what could have created this.
If you want to know the process or the source of creation, the most intimate part of creation for you is your own body, isn’t it? There is a captive creator here, trapped within you. You shouldn’t miss him here. If you don’t miss him here, if you know the source of creation within you, you are spiritual.

Does Belief in God Make You Spiritual?

An atheist cannot be spiritual. But you must understand that even a theist cannot be spiritual. Because an atheist and a theist are not different. One believes there is God, another believes there is no God. Both of them are believing something that they do not know. You are not sincere enough to admit that you do not know, that’s your problem. So theists and atheists are not different. They are the same people putting up an act of being different. A spiritual seeker is neither a theist nor an atheist. He has realized that he does not know, so he is seeking.
The moment you believe something, you become blind to everything else. The whole conflict on the planet is not between good and evil as they are trying to project it. It is always one man’s belief versus another man’s belief. The need for belief is more psychological than spiritual. You want to cling to something, you want to feel secure, you want to feel like you know it all. That is coming from a very immature mind. What is the problem if you don’t know anything about this existence. You actually don’t know anything. It’s beautiful! And you see how to make yourself beautiful and joyful within yourself, which is within your hands.

What is a Spiritual Experience?

Going to the ocean or to the mountain and seeking an experience may be beautiful, you must enjoy the world the way it is, but you must understand, the fish in the ocean doesn’t think it’s a spiritual experience, nor does the mountain goats think the mountain is a spiritual experience because they are there all the time. If you bring them to the city, they may think it’s a spiritual experience. It is the breaking of the barrier within you – something broke within you. You were in a shell. This broke and became a bigger shell. What I’m saying is, if you get used to the bigger shell, it feels the same way as the previous one.
So if you want to become boundless and you are trying to attempt it through physicality, you are essentially trying to go towards boundlessness in installments. Can you count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and one day count to infinity? You will only become endless counting. That’s not the way. Through physical means, you can never reach towards boundless nature. Every human being is looking to become boundless. If you give him whatever he wants, for three days he is okay. The fourth day he is looking for something else. Somebody may label it as greed, I just say this is life process in the wrong direction. If you want to know boundless nature, you must experience, you must perceive something which is beyond the physical. Something you might have touched when you jumped into the ocean, when you saw a mountain, when you sang a song, when you danced, when you closed your eyes, in so many ways it could have happened to an individual. You touched it, but now the question is of sustainability.

A Simple Practice

One thing is, we can put you on to something very simple, which is subjective. Any subjective technology cannot be taught to you in uncommitted atmospheres. So if you are willing to give yourself a small space of time that is very committed and focused, we can put you on a simple practice, where investing just 21 minutes a day (Inner Engineering), you can start your day with a very phenomenal spiritual experience within you. A very powerful experience that leaves you peaceful and joyful throughout the day.
Apart from that, to sustain it, one simple thing every human being has to do is, make your sense of involvement indiscriminate. If you look at a person, a tree, or a cloud, you are equally involved. You are equally involved with your own body and the breath. If you have no discrimination as to which is better, and you are equally involved with every aspect in life, then you will be constantly spiritual. Nobody needs to teach you what is spirituality.

THE ROOT CAUSE OF SUFFERING IS ATTACHMENT

"You have the right to work, but never to the fruit of work. You should never engage in action for the sake of reward, nor should you long for inaction. Perform work in this world, Arjuna, as a man established within himself - without selfish attachments, and alike in success and defeat."

-Mahabharat

Dependence on material things, worldly relations and pleasure-seeking steadily decrease as our love for God increases. Interestingly, as we move towards the Lord with faith, love and devotion, we automatically develop a certain amount of detachment to worldly objects.

For example, when the child is a baby, parents buy her toys. But as she grows and become a teenager, do we not want her to outgrow the toys and develop academic pursuits? Similarly, in life, we have to grow out of desire for the lower and seek the higher and subtler. We need to distance ourselves from the ‘toys’ of the world.

Spirituality is that in which faith, love and devotion for God steadily increase, as desire for and attachment to objects and beings progressively decrease. The spirit or essence of spirituality can be practiced in any walk of life. Firstly, as we live life, we spend some time reflecting on its meaning. We ask ourselves: is there a greater purpose to this existence? Such a line of thinking and contemplation is possible in your family life.

Secondly, the various relationships and numerous duties we have can be different. But an attitude of service can be maintained in the performance of these.

Thirdly, let’s overcome our psychological dependence on things and beings. So, give up past regrets and let go worries of the future. Lastly, our goal should be a state where attachments and pleasure-seeking from the world are reduced. Simultaneously, love for God and longing for this knowledge is intensified.
We have no control over the result. We just have to do our duties without getting attached to anything. Imagine that your entire life is a movie and you are mere an actor/actress. God is our director. He has given everyone of us some roles which we have to perform well. Whilst playing your role don't get attached with your character; with other co-actors. A specialist heart surgeon, who has conducted hundreds of operations cannot operate his daughter because he is attached to her. Similarly if we get attached to someone we will not be able to perform our duties well.

"Never get too attached to anyone because attachments leads to expectations and expectations lead to disappointments."

BE SATISFIED

Hello friends this is an excerpt from Aesop's Fables. This story teaches us many things in our life.

The Frogs Desiring a King

The Frogs were living as happy as could be in a marshy swamp that just suited them; they went splashing about caring for nobody and nobody troubling with them. But some of them thought that this was not right, that they should have a king and a proper constitution, so they determined to send up a petition to Jove to give them what they wanted. "Mighty Jove," they cried, "send unto us a king that will rule over us and keep us in order." Jove laughed at their croaking, and threw down into the swamp a huge Log, which came down and splashed in the swamp.
The Frogs were frightened out of their lives by the commotion made in their midst, and all rushed to the bank to look at the horrible monster; but after a time, seeing that it did not move, one or two of the boldest of them ventured out towards the Log, and even dared to touch it; still it did not move. Then the greatest hero of the Frogs jumped upon the Log and commenced dancing up and down upon it, thereupon all the Frogs came and did the same; and for some time the Frogs went about their business every day without taking the slightest notice of their new King Log lying in their midst. But this did not suit them, so they sent another petition to Jove, and said to him, "We want a real king; one that will really rule over us." Now this made Jove angry, so he sent among them a big Stork that soon set to work gobbling them all up. Then the Frogs repented when too late.
Same as the frogs even we are never satisfied in life. When we are into circumstances where the life is easy we want something which is difficult and vice versa. We never live in the present, we are driven by our past or the fear of future. Half of our problems in life would get solved if we are satisfied. The GREED for wanting more and more makes our life more and more difficult.

"The Art of Being HAPPY is to Be Satisfied with what you have"

OUR LIFE IS A MATTER OF CHOICES

A group of friends visited their old university professor..
Conversation soon turned to complaints about 'STRESS' & 'TENSION' in Life..

Professor offered them Coffee & returned from kitchen with Coffee in different kinds of cups !!!
(Glass Cups, Crystal Cups, Shining Ones, Some Plain Looking, Some Ordinary & Some Expensive Ones.)
When all of them had a Cup in Hand, the professor said, "If you noticed- all the Nice Looking & Expensive Cups are taken up, leaving behind the ordinary ones !!
Everyone of you wanted the Best CUPS, & that is the source of your STRESS & TENSION !!

What you really wanted was "Coffee", not the "Cup"! But you still went for the Best Cup.

If Life is Coffee; Then Jobs, Money, Status & Love etc. are the Cups!!!
They are just TOOLS to hold and contain Life.
Please Don't Let the CUPS Drive you !!
Enjoy the COFFEE ......!!!

What is life?

They say its from B to D...from Birthday to Death.. But what's between B and D?
Its a " C " Choice.

Our life is a matter of choices...
Live well and it will never go wrong...

ALL ABOUT LUCK

Why some people have all the Luck?

By Professor Richard Wiseman, University of Hertfordshire.

Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve?
A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.

Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me. Hundreds of extraordinary men & women volunteered for my research & over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives & had them take part in experiments.

I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it & tell me how many photographs were inside. I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying : "Tell the experimenter you have seen this and win $50." This message took up half of the page & was written in type that was more than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it & the lucky people tended to spot it.

Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected. As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else.
  • They go to parties'; intent on finding their perfect partner & so miss opportunities to make good friends.
  • They look through newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements & miss other types of jobs.
Lucky people are more relaxed & open, and therefore see what is there rather than just what they are looking for. My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles. They are skilled at creating & noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

Here are Professor Wiseman's four top tips for becoming lucky:

1) Listen to your gut instincts - they are normally right

2) Be open to new experiences and breaking Ur normal routine

3) Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well

4) Visualize Urself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone call.

Have a Lucky day and work for it...

"The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect."

"There is a great difference between "worry" & "concern",
A worried person only sees the problem & a concerned
person solves the problem..!
May luck be your side!!!

STAY STRONG

One day a school teacher wrote on the board:
9×1=7
9×2=18
9×3=27
9×4=36
9×5=45
9×6=54
9×7=63
9×8=72
9×9=81
9×10=90
When she was done, she looked to the students and they were all laughing at her, because of the first equation which was wrong.

The teacher said, "I wrote that first one wrong on purpose, because I wanted you to learn something important. This was for you to know how the world out there will treat you. You can see that I wrote RIGHT 9 times, but none of you congratulated me for it; you all laughed and criticized me because of one wrong thing I did."

'The world will never appreciate the good you do a million times, but will criticize one wrong done by you."

Don't get discouraged.

Mother is flying a kite. Her son is watching her carefully. After some time son says mom, "Because of the string, the kite is not able to go any further higher." Hearing this, the mother smiles and breaks the string. The kite goes higher and then shortly after that, it comes and falls on the ground. The child is very dejected and sad.

The mother sits next to him and calmly explains, "Son, in life we reach a certain level and then we feel that there are certain things that are not letting us grow any further like Home, Family, Culture etc. We feel we want to be free from those strings which we believe are stopping us from going higher. But, remember son."That our home , family and culture are the things that will help us stay stable at the high heights . If we try to break away from those strings our condition will be similar to the kite" we'll fall down soon..

Moral: "Never go away from home culture, family, and relationships as they help keep us stable while we are flying high."
